Dumisani Karamanski’s paintings bring together autobiography and fantasy. Drawing on personal relationships and lived experience, he depicts human figures alongside hybrid creatures, plants, insects and skeletal forms. Bodies merge with their surroundings, faces become obscured, and identities remain open to transformation.
Combining gestural painting with passages of spray paint, Karamanski builds compositions marked by saturated colour, shifting perspectives and abrupt changes of scale.
Dumisani Karamanski (b. 1995, Weimar, Germany) lives and works in Sofia, Bulgaria. He holds a BFA (2019) and an MFA (2021) in Painting from the National Academy of Art in Sofia.
